Learning to Seek, Find and Abide in the Lord
If your heart has ever yearned to know God more, to walk together with him on the path he’s laid for your life – if Jesus’ promise to abide in you as you abide in him makes you long for that rest and security – then you, my friend, are in the right place. I’m right here with you on this journey! God has been teaching me so much that he wants me to share with you. I haven’t “arrived”, but I’m learning. I’m so happy you’re here to learn with me!

How to Win an Argument
Last night, our daughter (kindergarten) told us she thought she was making people sad, that she wasn’t good but bad. She said that her friends don’t want to be her friends anymore and they don’t want to play with her. Naturally, we were just a tad concerned. She is a bright, sweet, generous soul who loves people and wants to be friends with everyone…

Rules for God’s Daughters: Part 1
Today I read one of those “copy and share” posts on Facebook. This one is called “Rules for My Daughter”. It resonated with me – but it also set off some warning bells. One of the devil’s greatest weapons is subtle lies: things that look good or feel good but are just a little twisted from God’s truth. As I read this list…
7 Ways We Should be Like Children
Driving along, migraine developing, just wanting to get home. Into the silence comes a voice from the backseat. A tiny, sweet, adorable voice that I wish would never grow up. “I love you, Mama.”
Tears trickle. Is there any better thing for a mama to hear? I feel a failure…
Chinese Water Torture – Practicing Peace
Last week I talked about nagging, and how very harmful it is. But how do we break the ugly cycle of nagging? How do we live peace?
Look to Christ. It is as simple – and as difficult – as that. Look to the Word. What does He say? Prayer…
Chinese Water Torture – The Nature of the Nag
Did you hear the one about the nagging wife? Wait, which one? There are so many! Society may love to joke that “wife” is synonymous with “nag”, but nagging is no laughing matter. Webster defines nag as “to annoy (someone) by often complaining about his or her behavior, appearance, etc.”, “to annoy (someone) with…
Happy Right Here
I’ve read that “if you’re not happy here, you won’t be happy there”. This is a truth that I have known intellectually for a long time, but only now is it sinking into my heart in a way that I can truly understand. I’ve often wondered: if God wants me happy, why doesn’t He move me to “that place” where I just know I’ll be happy…
An Easter Birthday
My 33rd birthday fell on Easter Sunday. In my lifetime the latest Easter has ever been was April 23rd, in 2000. My first thought at realizing that year’s date was “I will be the age Jesus was when He died on that cross”. Then I thought, “What have I done in my 33 years that could possibly compare to His?” I had been thinking on this for months…
